Position Summary
The Operations Team Member plays an important role in helping Natural Fertilizer and Soil Solutions safely and efficiently move materials, operate and care for equipment, serve our customers, and support the day-to-day work required to Complete the Nutrient Cycle.
This position is designed for someone who is willing to do more than just drive a truck or operate a piece of equipment. Our Operations Team Members work wherever they are needed to keep jobs moving, customers taken care of, and our equipment operating efficiently.
Depending on the season and workload, this position may include truck driving, equipment operation, loading and hauling materials, field application, maintenance, and other operational responsibilities.
Trucking & Material Hauling
Safely operate company trucks and trailers to transport manure, fertilizer, soil amendments, agricultural products, equipment, and other materials.
Complete required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Maintain accurate load records, tickets, logs, and other required paperwork.
Follow DOT regulations and all company safety policies.
Communicate with dispatch regarding schedules, job progress, delays, equipment issues, and changes in field conditions.
Help keep trucks productive by being prepared and available for scheduled work.
Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with customers, vendors, contractors, and the public.
Equipment Operation
Safely operate wheel loaders, tractors, spreaders, application equipment, and other agricultural or construction equipment.
Load trucks and application equipment accurately and efficiently.
Assist with manure, compost, fertilizer, gypsum, lime, and soil amendment handling and application.
Follow field maps, application instructions, job information, and assigned application rates.
Operate equipment in a manner that protects customer property, fields, roads, and company assets.
Assist with equipment setup, transportation, and movement between jobs.
Equipment Care & Maintenance
Perform daily inspections of trucks and equipment.
Grease, clean, fuel, and perform routine maintenance as required.
Identify mechanical problems early and communicate them to the appropriate supervisor.
Assist mechanics and other team members with repairs and preventative maintenance when needed.
Treat company equipment as if it were your own.
Maintain clean trucks, equipment, and work areas.
Job Execution
Review job information before beginning work and understand what is expected.
Follow instructions from supervisors, dispatch, and job leads.
Accurately document loads, acres, tons, hours, and other required job information.
Use company software and systems, including AG Simplified, as required.
Communicate immediately when field conditions, equipment problems, customer requests, or other circumstances could affect the job.
Help the team complete jobs efficiently instead of focusing only on an individual assignment.
Team Expectations
Being part of Operations means being willing to help where the work is. Employees may be asked to drive a truck one day, operate equipment the next, help with maintenance, move equipment, clean up a job site, or assist another crew. Reliability, communication, and accountability are non-negotiable expectations.
Operations Team Members are expected to:
Arrive on time and prepared to work.
Communicate schedule conflicts as early as possible.
Stay productive throughout the workday.
Ask what else needs to be done when an assigned task is completed.
Help teammates when another part of the operation needs assistance.
Follow company procedures even when working independently.
Take responsibility for mistakes and help solve problems.
Treat coworkers, customers, contractors, and the public professionally.
Take pride in the appearance and condition of company equipment.
Safety
Safety comes before production. Operations Team Members are expected to:
Follow company safety policies and DOT regulations.
Operate equipment within its designed and legal limits.
Never intentionally overload trucks, trailers, or equipment beyond structural or legal limits.
Wear required PPE.
Report unsafe equipment or working conditions immediately.
Stop and ask questions when instructions or conditions are unclear.
Never allow production pressure to justify unsafe operation.
Qualifications
Required:
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to safely operate or learn to operate agricultural and heavy equipment.
Ability to work independently while remaining accountable to the Operations Team.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatch, coworkers, and customers.
Willingness to work extended and irregular hours during busy agricultural seasons.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and field conditions.
Willingness to learn company software, paperwork, and operational procedures.
Preferred:
Class A CDL.
Agricultural trucking experience.
Heavy equipment or agricultural equipment experience.
Manure, fertilizer, lime, gypsum, compost, or other agricultural application experience.
Mechanical aptitude and basic equipment maintenance skills.
Employees who do not currently hold a CDL may be expected to obtain one if required for their assigned responsibilities.
Schedule
Agriculture is seasonal, and hours will vary throughout the year. During busy seasons, employees should expect extended hours, early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends. During slower periods, responsibilities may shift toward equipment maintenance, facility work, training, and preparation for upcoming seasons. Communication regarding availability and scheduling is essential.
